Update: May 14, 2020: The Motorola Edge Plus is now on sale from Verizon and Motorola. The full retail price is pretty hefty at $999.99 from both retailers, though monthly payments of $41.66 could help with sticker shock. Both Thunder Grey and Smoky Sangria color options are available from both retailers.

For a few years now, we’ve thought that Motorola was completely out of the flagship smartphone game. However, here we are with a brand new flagship series from the brand that easily rivals the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S20 series. Let us introduce you to the Motorola Edge and Motorola Edge Plus!
As one would expect, the Motorola Edge Plus price is high up in flagship territory, which makes sense since this is absolutely a flagship phone. If you were hoping for pricing more in line with the Moto G series, you’re going to be disappointed.
Below, we have all the information we know about the Motorola Edge and Motorola Edge Plus price, availability, and release date. If you’re looking to buy one of these phones, everything you need is here.
Motorola Edge and Motorola Edge Plus release date
Motorola officially revealed the Edge and Edge Plus on April 22, 2020. During that event, it revealed you would be able to buy the phones on May 14, 2020. Indeed, the Motorola Edge Plus is went on sale at Verizon and Motorola on May 14.
Motorola Edge and Motorola Edge Plus availability
As of now, we only have concrete information related to the United States and Canadian availability of the Motorola Edge series. In the US, both phones will be Verizon-exclusives, meaning you will only be able to use them on the Verizon network.
Unfortunately, this means that if you use any other carrier, the devices will be off-limits for you. For the time being, there will not be unlocked variants so you’ll need to switch to Verizon if you want to use them, which is disappointing news for a phone series of this caliber.
In Canada, the Motorola Edge Plus will be available at Bell, Rogers, TELUS, and Freedom Mobile. However, a release date for those carriers is uncertain.
According to the head of Motorola India, Prashanth Mani, the Motorola Edge Plus will be making its way to India sometime soon. Unfortunately no exact release date or pricing details have been announced.

Motorola did say that there will be global variants of the Motorola Edge and Edge Plus. However, it didn’t have any details for us yet.
Motorola Edge and Motorola Edge Plus price
The Motorola Edge Plus price will start at $999. While that seems like a lot, this phone could easily go head-to-head with the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra, making it seem like a bargain in comparison. Even if you compare it just to the Galaxy S20 Plus, you’re still saving $200 and getting some more features.
However, keep in mind that you’re still locked to the Verizon network, which is likely a deal-breaker for a lot of people regardless of the price of the phone. If you buy from Verizon, you’ll pay $41.66 each month for 24 months, unless you choose to pay outright.
Verizon will also have some deals to entice customers to upgrade or switch. There will be the usual trade-in discounts, the amount of which will vary depending on the device you’re trading in and whether or not you are a current customer. If you are not on Verizon and want to switch, you can get a $150 Verizon e-gift card if you switch to one of the carrier’s unlimited plans. You’ll also get a Verizon Stream TV, an Amazon Echo Dot, and a smart plug.
As for the vanilla Motorola Edge, Motorola didn’t have any pricing info for us on that device yet. Obviously, you can expect it to be cheaper than $999, but by how much we are not sure. It will also be a Verizon exclusive in the US, though.
As far as global pricing goes, we are in the dark on that, too. There will be global variants of both devices, but when you’ll be able to get them and for how much is a mystery for now. Stay tuned as we will update this article as soon as we have the info you need.
