LG used to be the only manufacturer offering handsets with ultra-wide rear cameras, but the move to triple-camera setups in the 18 months or so has seen loads of brands adopt this type of sensor. It’s not hard to see why though, as it offers a unique perspective, allowing you to better capture landscapes and cityscapes. So with that in mind, we take a look at the best smartphones with wide-angle cameras.
Best phones with ultra-wide angle cameras:
Editor’s note: We’ll be updating this list of the best smartphones with wide-angle cameras as more devices are launched. So check back every few months for more picks!
Samsung Galaxy S20 series
The Samsung Galaxy S20 series is arguably the top Android flagship family right now, offering powerful internals, 8K recording, and smooth 120Hz refresh rates.
All three Galaxy S20 phones offer 12MP shooters for ultra-wide snaps. These aren’t the highest resolution ultra-wide cameras by any measure, but we were pretty happy with the results in our Galaxy S20 series reviews.
The Galaxy S20 Ultra is the most feature-packed phone of the family, packing a 108MP main camera, 48MP 4x periscope camera, and the biggest battery of the lot. But you’re still getting a great experience by opting for the other devices, including IP68 designs and wireless charging.

Huawei P40 Pro and Pro Plus
The Huawei P40 Pro and P40 Pro Plus are quintessential 2020 flagships in many ways, offering a heavyweight Kirin 990 processor, 4,200mAh batteries with 40W charging, wireless charging, and water-resistant designs. Huawei’s phones are pretty beastly in the camera field too, sharing a 50MP RYYB main camera and a 40MP ultra-wide shooter.
That 40MP ultra-wide camera should excel in low-light environments, although the field of view isn’t quite as wide as other ultra-wide snappers. Nevertheless, you’ll definitely notice a difference when switching between your main camera and this one.
Otherwise, the P40 Pro Plus differs from the P40 Pro by having 40W wireless charging, and two zoom cameras (3x and 10x). Meanwhile, the standard P40 Pro has 27W wireless topups and one zoom camera (5x optical).
Do be warned that the P40 Pro is the first P series flagship to lack Google Mobile Services. So if you must have the Play Store, the Gmail app, a proper Google Maps app, and other Google services, this isn’t for you.
Huawei P40 Pro specs:
- Display: 6.47-inch, QHD+
- SoC: Kirin 990
- RAM: 8GB
- Storage: 128/256/512GB
- Cameras: 50MP main, 40MP ultra-wide, 12MP periscope, and 3D ToF
- Front camera: 32MP and IR
- Battery: 4,200mAh
- Software: Android 10
Huawei P40 Pro Plus specs:
- Display: 6.58-inch, FHD+
- SoC: Kirin 990
- RAM: 8GB
- Storage: 256/512GB

- Front camera: 32MP and IR
- Battery: 4,200mAh

Oppo Find X2 Pro
The Oppo Find X2 Pro is right up there as one of the best premium flagships of 2020, going toe to toe with the Galaxy S20 series in many ways. It also brings the heat when it comes to photography.
Oppo’s phone packs a 48MP IMX586 ultra-wide snapper, making it the highest resolution ultra-wide camera on the market right now. You also got a brand-new 48MP IMX689 main camera with bigger pixels for improved low-light shots, and a 3x telephoto shooter.
Otherwise, the Find X2 Pro also serves up a Snapdragon 865 chipset with 5G, a QHD+ OLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate, 65W charging, and a 4,260mAh battery.
Oppo Find X2 Pro specs:
- Display: 6.7-inch, QHD+
- SoC: Snapdragon 865
- RAM: 12GB
- Storage: 512GB
- Cameras: 48MP main, 48MP ultra-wide, and 13MP periscope
- Front camera: 32MP
- Battery: 4,260mAh
- Software: Android 10
OnePlus 8 Pro
The OnePlus 8 Pro offers the Oppo Find X2 Pro’s main and ultra-wide cameras, which means you’re getting a cutting-edge 48MP IMX689 main camera, and that high resolution 48MP ultra-wide camera. You’ve also got a 3x 8MP telephoto camera and a 5MP color filter sensor that’s definitely a gimmick.
OnePlus’s latest Pro variant serves up impressive specs elsewhere, packing a Snapdragon 865 processor, 120Hz QHD+ OLED screen, a 4,510mAh battery with 30W wired charging, and 5G connectivity.
This phone also marks the first time we see wireless charging and a significant IP rating on a OnePlus phone — 30W and IP68 respectively. All of this does come at a $999 price tag though, which is still cheaper than the Oppo Find X2 Pro.
OnePlus 8 Pro specs:
- Display: 6.78-inch, QHD+
- SoC: Snapdragon 865
- RAM: 8/12GB
- Storage: 128/256GB
- Cameras: 48MP main, 48MP ultra-wide, 8MP telephoto, 5MP color filter camera
- Front camera: 16MP

Xiaomi Mi 10 series
Xiaomi’s Mi flagships are traditionally known for offering great specs in a more affordable package. Unfortunately, the Mi 10 series bucks this trend, starting at €799 (~$870) for the base model in Europe.
You’re getting some impressive specs anyway, such as a Snapdragon 865 processor, 5G connectivity, a 90Hz OLED screen, 30W wireless charging, and a 108MP main camera. But there are a few differences between the devices though.
The Mi 10 Pro ups the ante with a 20MP ultra-wide camera, two telephoto shooters, and 50W wired charging. The standard Mi 10 delivers a 13MP ultra-wide camera and two 2MP sensors (one for macro shots and one for depth effects), as well as 30W wired charging. Don’t expect water resistance here though, despite the high price tags.

- Display: 6.67-inch, Full HD+
- SoC: Snapdragon 865
- RAM: 8/12GB
- Storage: 128/256GB

- Front camera: 20MP
- Battery: 4,780mAh
- Software: Android 10
Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro specs:
- Display: 6.67-inch, FHD+
- SoC: Snapdragon 865
- RAM: 8/12GB
- Storage: 256/512GB
- Cameras: 108MP main, 20MP ultra-wide, 12MP telephoto, and 5MP telephoto
- Front camera: 20MP
- Battery: 4,500mAh
- Software: Android 10
LG V60
LG was the first major smartphone brand to launch a phone with an ultra-wide angle camera back in 2016. The firm isn’t letting up though, with the LG V60 packing a 13MP ultra-wide shooter alongside a 64MP main camera.
The V60’s core specs are mostly top-flight otherwise, touting a Snapdragon 865 processor, 8GB of RAM, 128GB of expandable storage, and a respectable 5,000mAh battery. LG’s signature features are here too, namely an IP68 design, wireless charging, a 3.5mm port, and quad DAC audio.
The V60 is available for $899 if you want the Second Screen Case, although some retail partners are offering the phone for $800 without the case. Either way, you’re getting a powerful phone with an ultra-wide camera.
LG V60 ThinQ specs:
- Display: 6.8-inch, Full HD+
- SoC: Snapdragon 865
- RAM: 8GB
- Storage: 128GB
- Cameras: 64MP main, 13MP ultra-wide, and 3D ToF
- Front camera: 10MP
- Battery: 5,000mAh
- Software: Android 10
Samsung Galaxy Note 10 series
The Galaxy Note 10 series marked the first time Samsung ditched a headphone port on its flagship phones, with the Galaxy S20 family following suit a few months later. Nevertheless, you’ve got some great core features here, such as the Snapdragon 855 or Exynos 9825 chipset, great OLED screens, and flexible multi-camera setups.
In the case of the latter, you’re looking at a 12MP main camera, 12MP 2x telephoto shooter, and 16MP ultra-wide sensor. The Note 10 Plus also gains a 3D ToF camera. Speaking of the Plus model, other differences include a bigger battery (4,300mAh vs 3,500mAh), faster wired charging, and a higher resolution screen (QHD+ vs FHD+).
Samsung’s flagship phones also offer wireless charging, reverse wireless charging, IP68 designs, and the ever-popular S-Pen. Either way, you’re getting one of the better phones with an ultra-wide angle camera.
Samsung Galaxy Note 10 specs:
- Display: 6.3-inch, Full HD+
- SoC: SD 855 or Exynos 9825
- RAM: 8GB
- Storage: 256GB

What about budget devices?
You don’t have to spend a ton of money to get a phone with a wide-angle shooter, as even budget devices have this camera today. In fact, there are tons of options on the market. So if you have a limited budget, you might want to look at these cheaper phones with an ultra-wide angle camera.
Realme 6 Pro
The Realme 6 Pro is one of the best phones on the list, because it actually has two wide-angle shooters. The 8MP ultra-wide camera on the rear doesn’t have the most megapixels, but it should get the job done well enough for a phone that retails for just under $250.
Meanwhile, the phone also has a dual selfie camera setup, featuring a standard 16MP shooter and an 8MP ultra-wide sensor. The latter is handy for group shots, so you don’t have to struggle to get everyone in the picture.
There’s more to the phone than ultra-wide cameras though, as it offers a quad rear camera setup otherwise. This setup features a 64MP main camera, 12MP telephoto shooter, and 2MP macro lens. The rest of the phone is very compelling for the price, featuring a 90Hz FHD+ LCD screen, Snapdragon 720G chipset, 128GB of expandable storage, and a 4,300mAh battery with 30W charging.
Realme 6 Pro specs:
- Display: 6.6-inch, FHD+
- SoC: Snapdragon 720G
- RAM: 6/8GB
- Storage: 128GB
- Cameras: 64MP main, 12MP telephoto, 8MP ultra-wide, 2MP macro
- Front camera: 16MP main and 8MP ultra-wide
- Battery: 4,300mAh
- Software: Android 9.0 Pie
Xiaomi Mi Note 10
Xiaomi released several great phones with an ultra-wide angle camera in 2019, but the Mi Note 10 stands out as the most impressive one on paper. The Xiaomi device packs a penta-camera setup on the back, and one of these is a 20MP ultra-wide camera (117-degree field of view). This means you’ve got one of the better ultra-wide cameras in theory, packing plenty of pixels into a wide view.
The Mi Note 10 also offers a 108MP main camera, a 3.7X 8MP telephoto camera that takes 5x 5MP shots, a 12MP 2x telephoto snapper, and a 2MP macro sensor. In other words, this might be the most impressive camera setup of 2019.
Xiaomi’s device also offers a Snapdragon 730G chipset, 6GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, an in-display fingerprint sensor, and a 5,260mAh battery. And yes, the Mi Note 10 also has a headphone port.
Xiaomi Mi Note 10 specs:
- Display: 6.47-inch, FHD+
- SoC: Snapdragon 730G
- RAM: 6GB
- Storage: 128GB
- Cameras: 108MP main, 20MP ultra-wide, 12MP telephoto, 5MP telephoto, and 2MP depth
- Front camera: 32MP
- Battery: 5,260mAh
- Software: Android 9.0 Pie
Poco X2
The Poco X2 might not be the Poco F1 successor fans were waiting for, coming in as a rebranded Redmi K30 4G instead. But you’ve still got some impressive features for ~$225, such as a Snapdragon 730G processor, a 120Hz LCD screen, and a 4,500mAh battery.
The Poco X2 packs a quad rear camera arrangement too, featuring a 64MP main camera, 8MP ultra-wide shooter, and a pair of 2MP sensors. Our own Dhruv Bhutani quite liked the wide shots in our Poco X2 review, so those looking for affordable phones with an ultra-wide angle camera should look at this too.
Poco X2 specs:
- Display: 6.67-inch, FHD+
- SoC: Snapdragon 730G
- RAM: 6/8GB
- Storage: 64/128/256GB
- Cameras: 64MP main, 8MP ultra-wide, 2MP macro, and 2MP depth
- Front camera: 20MP main and 2MP depth
- Battery: 4,500mAh
- Software: Android 10
These are the best phones with an ultra-wide-angle camera in our opinion, although there are plenty of other great options out there. We’ll update this post with new models once they hit the market.
