The best NEW Android games from April 2021:

Battle Seven Kingdoms : Kingdom Wars 2

Price: Free to play

Battle Seven Kingdoms: Kingdom Wars 2 is a new strategy game. It uses a 2D, side-scrolling style of game play unlike the top-down style of most strategy games. Players build up an army and do battle against the enemy. The game includes a story (or scenario) mode along with an infinite mode if you want test your skills. There are also over 100 units to control, hidden stuff to collect in every level, and some other neat stuff. Like most new games, it could definitely use another coat of polish, but it actually plays fairly well.

Biphase

Price: Free

Biphase is a puzzle-platformer. Players jump from obstacle to obstacle to complete levels. There is also a mechanic to invert the colors of levels to reveal new obstacles and paths to complete the level. It’s a neat idea if a little basic in execution. That said, it does get challenging in the later stages. The game is rather short, but it’s also entirely free to play with no ads or in-app purchases (as of this writing).

Darkfire Heroes

Price: Free to play

Darkfire Heroes is a gacha style mobile RPG. It boasts a collection of 75 heroes across six factions to play with. From there it’s the usual gacha stuff. You assemble a team, upgrade their gear, beat up bad guys, and progress the game. The combat system is a bit more unique from most gachas and it adds a bit of uniqueness to the mix. The game also includes a PvP arena mode, clans, and more. It’s free to play so prepare yourself for that. Otherwise, it’s a pretty good game.

Disgaea RPG

Price: Free to play

Disgaea RPG is a free to play mobile port of the Disgaea series. For the uninitiated, Disgaea is a strategy RPG style game. The mobile version brings some of those mechanics to mobile. Players collect characters from the series, build a team, progress the story, and more. It’ll appeal more to existing Disgaea fans due to its nostalgia, but it’s a solid free to play strategy RPG on its own.

Elona Mobile

Price: Free to play

Elona Mobile is a roguelike RPG. It features an open world, tons of stuff to do, and, of course, plenty of dungeon crawling. We like this one for the sheer number of things you can do. Players can open shops, explore dungeons, open businesses, farm, cook, and do other stuff. The openness is very appealing. Plus, the character creation is pretty good as well. The game has a comedy element to it and it’s nice that it doesn’t take itself too seriously.

League of Legends: Wild Rift

Price: Free to play

League of Legends: Wild Rift is obviously the big name release for the month of April. It was available in a few countries but made its big North American debut earlier this month. It’s a MOBA game where teams of five take on other teams of five. It features characters and mechanics from the PC version of the game, but in a more mobile friendly setting. There are also social elements and all champions are unlockable without paying any money. With the spiritual demise of Vainglory, this fills the MOBA niche in mobile perfectly and is actually pretty fun to play.

Pigeon: A Love Story

Price: $0.99

Pigeon: A Love Story is one of the more unique games we’ve seen in recent memory. Players fly around London from the perspective of a pigeon. There are a lot of other pigeons flying around as well. The goal is to find the one for you. This is a surprisingly intensive game for your phone so you’ll need a modern device with a relatively high end chipset in order to run it. Plus, the map is live streamed so you need a mobile connection for the full experience. There is an offline mode with a simulated city if you want to go that route. It’s cheap, cathartic, and it’s definitely not a game you see everyday.

Slashy Camp

Price: Free / $0.99

Slashy Camp is the latest game from Blue Digital, developer of Slayaway Camp. This one is an endless runner similar to games like Crossy Road. Players traverse the landscape while killing people and avoiding obstacles and traps. There are a bunch of weapons to use, an XP system to unlock more goods, and more. The movement system can be a bit tedious and there are some bugs. Otherwise, it’s good.

Price: Free to play

Throne of the Chosen is a simulation style RPG. Players are dropped in and they must manage the various things in the game. You’ll collect followers, make decisions, and try to romance characters. It uses a Greek mythology theme so most of the characters are familiar. There is a combat mode but it’s an AFK style combat mode. The real game play here is the simulation aspect. It’s not without its flaws, but people seem to enjoy the game.

The Walking Dead: Survivors

Price: Free to play

It’s nice to see new games from The Walking Dead series, even if the series itself is over. This one has all of the nostalgia stuff like characters from both the show and comics. Players build a settlement, defend it from zombies, fight other players, gather supplies, and all of the usual strategy stuff. It’s very, very similar to the mobile game State of Survival. Those who enjoyed that game should enjoy this one as well. The game’s microtransactions kind of get in the way during the endgame parts. However, a little patience can go a long way.
