Thank god it’s Friday! This weekend couldn’t have come sooner for this writer, who’s been stuck at home for the past few weeks with surging virus cases all around. On the brighter side, I’ve got lots of stuff to stream month, so my two days off look promising. I’m also pretty pumped about some of the new movie trailers and TV teasers in our roundup today.

We finally got a more detailed trailer for Netflix’s upcoming Resident Evil animated series. We also saw an action-packed trailer for Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead and a visually striking clip for Barry Jenkins’ the Underground Railroad. What more? Read on for all the fun streaming trailers from the week gone by.

The best new movie trailers and TV show teasers for upcoming streaming titles

Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness

Zombies invade The White House in this new trailer for Netflix‘s Resident Evil animated series. We finally have a release timeline for this long-awaited adaptation of the survival horror game franchise. Infinite Darkness will be based around two of the most iconic characters from the game — Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield, and we get to see both of them in the latest clip, stuck together at the President’s house in the midst of the Zombie outbreak.

Selena, The Series: Part 2

The second part of Selena, The Series, returns to Netflix On May 4. The trailer shows the Latin singer at the brink of stardom, ready to go solo and expand her business while juggling time between family and a new husband. The nine-episode second half will show her growing popularity, but the trailer also hints that we’ll get to witness the story of her tragic death at the hands of her former manager Yolanda Saldívar.

Army of the Dead

We got a new movie trailer for Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead this week, and it looks like the undead in this flick are far more superior than their tribe usually is in films like these. The clip shows Dave Bautista and his posse in search of $200 million beneath the Vegas strip, but a literal army of highly organized zombies is waiting for them on ground level, complete with their very own zombie tiger!

Borat Supplemental Reportings

Amazon Prime Video is releasing another Borat special stitched together from the supplemental footage of the recent movie. All of the footage you see in the trailer is new and will be released as a multi-part special on the streaming service. One of the extended scenes shows Borat (Sacha Baron Cohen) visiting a make-up salon with his daughter Tutar (Maria Bakalova) wanting to look like R. Kelly. We also see him living in lockdown with two conspiracy theorists. There’s one scene where Bakalova pretends to be a journalist interviewing a couple on a video call. “Is social distancing the reason Melania never stands close to Donald?” she asks. The couple replies, “She was doing that before Covid ever came out.”

The Underground Railroad

We got our first complete look at Barry Jenkins’ upcoming Prime Video limited series this week. The powerful new trailer for The Underground Railroad teases the story based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel by Colson Whitehead. Cora, a slave in the deep south, breaks free from her shackled existence to find the rumored underground railroad. Only, this one is an actual railroad run by engineers, with a train going through a web of secret tunnels. Meanwhile, Joel Edgerton plays a frightful bounty hunter tasked to find Cora and bring her back by hook or by crook.

Launchpad

This is a new series of six short films coming to Disney Plus under Disney’s Launchpad platform. The shorts seek to empower filmmakers from underrepresented backgrounds with diverse perspectives. The lineup includes titles like American Eid — the story of an immigrant Muslim girl who goes on a mission to make Eid a public holiday, Dinner is Served — A Chinese student at an elite US school tries out for a position no international student has ever applied for, and more. The first season of Launchpad hits Disney Plus on May 28.
