Every smartphone on the market has a screen timeout setting, allowing users to adjust how long it takes for a screen to automatically turn off. And there are arguments for both short and long timeout settings.
Some people might favor a super-short timeout (e.g. 30 seconds), as it contributes to better battery life in theory and reduces the risk of screen burn-in on OLED phones. Other smartphone owners might lean towards a longer timeout period (one minute or more) so they don’t have to unlock the device again for a while. Google’s phones even let you set a 30 minute timeout period.
So what do Android Authority readers prefer? Well, that’s where you come in. We want to know what screen timeout option you use. Let us know your preference by taking the poll above.
Personally, I usually set my screen timeout period to one or two minutes. This way, I can quickly pick up where I left off if I’m momentarily distracted. And I get distracted a lot. Leave a comment below with your thoughts on the matter!
