- The A52s 5G is an upgrade of the base A52 5G.
- What’s new is a faster Snapdragon 778G processor and an Awesome Mint color.
- It’s launching in the UK on September 3.
Samsung on Tuesday announced the A52s 5G, a minor update to the original A52 5G that introduces a faster processor and a new Awesome Mint colorway.
The A52s 5G is equipped with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 778G chip, instead of the original’s 750G. The 778 should be powerful enough to handle 4K HDR video. The Awesome Mint color joins existing Black, White, and Violet options.
The phone’s general specs include a 6.5-inch, 120Hz Super AMOLED display, and four rear cameras with wide, ultra-wide, telephoto, and macro lenses, though only the wide lens has optical image stabilization. Likewise, while the wide camera sensor is rated at 64 megapixels, sensor sizes shrink to as little as 5 for macro photography. The front-facing selfie camera is a 32-megapixel unit.
Other highlights include a 4,500mAh battery with 25W fast charging, stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, and IP67 dust and water resistance. The base phone has 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, plus support for microSD cards up to 1TB. An 8GB/256GB version should become available, though Samsung hasn’t said when or at what price.
The phone so far appears to be UK-only, although that could change. Preorders begin August 24 for £409 ahead of a September 3 launch date.
