- Chrome 154 adds Email Verification support on Android, letting supported sites confirm your email address through the browser.
- The feature could replace the usual verification email or one-time code, but both the website and email provider must support Google’s protocol.
- Google says the Chrome feature is separate from Android’s Verified Email system for apps, though it is working to make the two experiences more consistent.
Chrome already knows plenty about you when you’re filling out forms, from your saved addresses to payment details. But soon, it may also be able to quietly prove that an email address is really yours without sending you off to your inbox first. That idea has been taking shape on desktop for months, and with Chrome 154, it is finally making its way to Android.
Google shares that it’s extending its Email Verification origin trial to Chrome for Android. The Verified Email section is appearing under Settings > Addresses and more, complete with an “Automatically confirm your emails” toggle.
